The Slovene coast is only approximately 40km long and it belongs to the shortest European coasts. It borders on Italy and Croatia and is bathed by the bays of Koper, Strunjan and Piran. Its territory is divided between municipalities of Koper, Izola and Piran. The structure of the bottom is somewhere covered with sea vegetation and a bit rocky or just covered in silt. The deepest point of the Slovene sea is 37m but the depth in average is around 17m.
During the months when the weather is sunny and warm the sea is reigned by common pandoras, Atlantic mackerels, gilt-head breams and others, the rest of the year belongs to sqid, cuttlefish and similar species....
The Slovene seaside towns will impress you with no exception because you can enjoy the old town centres very much and have the view on the Slovene Alps directly from the sea !
If you don't possess the annual fishing licence for recreational boat angling on the sea you need a daily or weekly one. If you fish from the shoreline you DO NOT need the ticket.
You can tow from the boat or just fish from it when it is standing still, with two rods or lines with up to three hooks or squid jigs tied.
NOTE: If you buy the tickets via website www.ribiskekarte.si for the sea fishing you DO NOT HAVE TO PRINT the ticket. You only have to have the unique code that is visible on the bought ticket (RKxxxxxxxx) and valid ID on you. The fishing ticket must be bought AT LEAST ONE HOUR before the fishing otherwise it is not valid!
