The Ribiška družina Tržič has been active since 1956 and today has 217 members. It is lead by the board of members that is divided into four commissions: for recreative fishing, for work with juniors, for fishing competitions,fish breeding and water management and for environmental protection.Every action of the family is controled by the supervisory committee. In 1998 we also built the fishing lodge "Ribiški dom " near our ponds. Besides very varied offer of fish dishes and drinks it also offers the commercial fishing for rainbow trouts on the commercial pond on the northwest side of the lodge.  Together with the RD Kranj we also manage the fish farm for breeding of brown trouts - annually we breed 500.000 to 700.00 younglings which are then put into the breeding streams, into the big pool in Tržič and some of them stay on the fish farm. We can say that we are the only fishing family that can boust with genetically clean brown trout in the tributaries of the Tržiška Bistrica which are defined as alpine and otherwise are not meant for fishing.
