Everybody who has a desire to test his/hers fishing knowledge and skills in beautiful nature and in company of friendly local people must feel drawn into the waters of the RD Slovenska Bistrica that spread accross approximately 100ha. The RD has been active since 1959 and is divided into sections; all the members must be active within the section as well as in the family. The sections take care of individual creeks and ponds and this kind of organization keeps a lot of members busy every day.The members also participate actively in the breeding of some fish species. They mostly breed carps- annually approximately 7 tons but they have a lot of success in breeding of tenches, pikes and other smaller fish. They take special care of the indigenous brown trout- it is bred in eight protected breeding streams by the fishing family in a cycle that lasts two years. Some smaller cabins have been built alongside every commercial pond in order to arrange some space for the fishing guards and managers of these ponds as well as for any visitors. The fishing family Slovenska Bistrica is -with all its waters and the fish life in them-open to home and foreign tourists.  The recreational fishermen and tourists are welcome to fish for carps, grass carps, tenches, pikes, zanders, common nases, barbels... in the waters of the RD Slovenska Bistrica. There are large quantities of crucian carps and near Pragersko you can find some beautiful common rudds and Danube roaches. The fans of fly fishing enjoy themselves in fishing for brown trouts; the most beautiful ones live in the waters of the lake Črno jezero in the mountain Pohorje.
