The fishing family Novo mesto is the most numerous of the 64 fishing families in Slovenia and counts 650 members. Due to the direct and effective implementation of the activities, especially the breeding and protection of fish, conservation of water and nature and referencing choir members, the family is divided into sub-committees: Žužemberk, Straža- Dolenjske Toplice, Novo mesto - the right bank, Novo mesto - the left bank, Kronovo, Temenica and Ljubljana. Members are included by the place of their residence.

In addition to the breeding of fish in breeding streams the fishing family carries out this activity in the fish farm Temenica in Luknja pri Prečni. They breed brown trout,s rainbow trouts and huchens, which are then invested in the fishing waters. The farm also breeds rainbow trouts for sale on the market. The fishing family Novo mesto is one of the few fishing families that self-sufficiently breeds indigenous species of Danube roach and common nase.
