The district Savinja, which is managed by RD Mozirje starts at Grušovlje dam in the village Grušovlje and ends at the bridge across the Savinja in the village Letuš. The average depth of the Savinja in this district is between 0,5 and 1,5 m, except in pools and below dams. The bottom is marl or covered with gravel limestone.The current changes in this district; the rapid parts are followed by still waters. The river is between 25 and 40 m wide.. The average flowrate is 7m3/s, the average temperature is 7C. The banks are covered with river vegetation. From the Grušovlje dam to Spodnja Rečica the Savinja makes a wide channel across the pebbled ground and makes pools alongside. From Spodnja Rečica to Letuš is the river channel more stable; inflowing and outflowing rapids are followed by still waters. This district has five dams. It offers excellent conditions for fly fishing. You can find all the salmonid species ( brown trout, grayling, rainbow trout, huchen) as well as some cyprinids ( barbel, chub).
