The RD Kostanjevica na Krki was established in 1953. Its founders were fishermen Edi DVORAČEK, Milan and Stanko VODOPIVEC and many others. The special feature of our fishing district consists of natural spawning places for pikes that run through the forest Krakovski gozd and are defined as reservations for maintaing the fish population- it is strictly forbidden to fish in these streams. The variety of fish species in these streams is very rich ,especially in the upper parts and some pretty rare fish species can be found here.
The main breeding stream is the Skradnja where the RD Kostanjevica na Krki breeds young brown trouts that are later put into some bigger salmonid creeks.
