The river Suhodolnica is the main source of drinking water for the Slovenj Gradec basin due to its extra clear upper stream. Even the endangered species can be found here, especially freshwater crayfish. The bottom is lime and stone.
The river creates numerous pools in its lower course as well as smaller rapids where brown and brook trouts live.
The entire district spreads from the little reservoir Kovač to the outflow into the river Mislinja but it is divided according to the fishing system : catch and take part - from the little reservoir Kovač to the road bridge for Kotlje and trophy part ( catch and release) from the road bridge for Kotlje to the outflow into the river Mislinja.
